It’s been just over three months since I took up the position of CEO at BAFA, and it’s gone by in a flash! I’ve met and spoken so many different people, across the organisation and across the country.
While I knew there was passion for the sport, I’ve been overwhelmed by the love for our amazing game. People are the lifeblood of BAFA and your passion, commitment, dedication and enthusiasm make me incredibly excited for the future.
As we approach the holiday season, I want to wish everyone connected with BAFA and British American Football a restful and enjoyable festive break. I hope you can spend time with friends and family, and you have a chance to relax and unwind.
Next year promises to be another significant one for American football in Britain, and it kicks off with a bang with the inaugural CFL UK Combine taking place in Bristol in January. This is a big moment for our sport, showing there is a clear pathway for talented British athletes to realise their potential. It promises to be a great day.
Following that we have the Super Bowl at the start of February of course, then women’s contact Division 1 and Division 2 finals in mid-March, and then later in the month the BUCS Premier and Division 1 finals taking place as part of the BUCS Big Wednesday showpiece day. The next three months looks to be just as exhilarating as my first three in the job!
I look forward to working with you, and to meeting as many of you as possible, over the coming year. I believe we have a big 2020 ahead for our sport.
Season’s greetings and a Happy New Year.
