BAFA announce associate teams in the running for league entry in 2019

Thursday, May 24, 2018

BAFA are pleased to announce the following teams have successfully negotiated the first three stages of the associate process in order to gain entry to the league in 2019.

The successful teams that are able to progress onto the next stage of the process are:

Darlington Steam

Dundee Hurricanes

Highland Stags

Inverclyde Goliaths

Kings Lynn Patriots

Teams who have not been successful, due to not meeting minimum requirements at the May deadline are:

Burnley Tornados

DC Presidents

Hereford Stampede

Dunfermline Kings

Northants Knights

The successful teams will now be able to organise assessed fixtures in the next few months. The teams will need to play 5 assessed games in total (3 at home, 2 away), but are encouraged to play more games.

The teams must organise fixtures through the NL Associate Team Manager, including obtaining BAFRA officials and assessors, with at least a months’ notice being requested. Games are to be played on Saturdays during the regular season in order to assist in obtaining BAFRA officials without impacting on the regular season fixtures. All assessed games along with finalised documentation must be completed at least the weekend prior to the associate process deadline, which is the first Saturday in November. The decision on who will be admitted to the league for 2019 will follow shortly after this deadline.

BAFA will continue to work with the unsuccessful teams providing feedback in order to assist their development for re-application next season. Once minimum requirements are met the unsuccessful teams may be permitted to play friendly non-assessed games at the NL Associate Team Managers discretion.

If you are interested in starting a new team at youth, junior, senior contact sides, university contact side or a ladies contact side, interesting in getting involved with the team assessment portion of the process, would like to play an associate team during their assessment period, or have any questions about the process NL Associate Team Manager at nlassociate.manager@britishamericanfootball.org
