2019 adult flag finals day details confirmed
Friday, June 28, 2019
BAFA is pleased to confirm the adult mixed flag football league finals will be held in Manchester on the weekend of August 17-18.
In 2018 championship and plate finals were split across two days in different locations and a month apart. But this year all of the action will take place over a single weekend at Belle Vue Sports Village in Manchester - venue for the plate finals day last year and home of the Manchester Titans. With access to two full size 3G pitches there will be space for six flag pitches each day.
Premier and League 1 national playoffs and championship games will be played on Saturday 17 August while Premier and League 1 plate playoffs and finals and promotion/relegation games will take place on Sunday 18 August.
The final schedule will be confirmed in due course but games on both days are likely to start promptly at 9.30am with each day finishing in the mid to late afternoon. For both Premier and League 1 (National championships and plate) the format will be a straight knock-out but with full placing games (1st through 8th place) for every team so each team will play 3 games. Teams playing in the promotion/relegation games on the Sunday will also play a single warm-up game against a team from a different conference before they battle out to see who goes up and who goes down.
The Baker Street Buttonhookers and London Smoke won the Premier and League 1 titles respectively last season with the Grangemouth Broncos and Reading Knights coming out top in the Premier and League 1 Plate Finals.
With two gamedays still to go this season, the Buttonhookers and Broncos remain the only unbeaten teams in the Premier League but the newly promoted Smoke aren’t far behind - so there's everything to play for and this year's finals are set to be the most interesting and hotly contested in years.
